#8: Dreamscape

Note: This is my loongest post, sorry its the loongest story i have written.please don't curse me if you loose patience. but my special thanks if you stick with this till the very end. Happy reading :)

On the river side, she sat flipping stones into the waters to see the ripples they made. A Sudden rustle of leaves brought a shiver down her spine. Not realizing what she was doing, she took the wooden log which lay by side of her and threw in the direction she heard the rustle of dried leaves.

“What the heck are you doing? Trying to kill Me.?” shouted back a voice from the direction she threw the log of wood. Shocked and embarrassed at the same time, she slightly perked through the nearby bush. It was a guy, no she corrected. He was old enough to be called a man.

“Why on earth are you just staring like a dummy from that bush? Would you mind walking a little to help me outta this mess you put me into?” he screamed back at her very irritated this time. Feeling rather stupid of herself she went down to help him.

“I.. I’m.. I’m.. I’mreallyverysorryidin’tintendtodoallthistoyou.” She blurted out making it impossible to interpret what she was actually speaking.

He stared at her blankly. Calming down himself, “Err, are you an ALIEN?” he asked her. “You see, I don’t seem to understand what you are trying to speak.” Having said that he made her flush to a darker shade of red.

“Oh? No...No...No, I’m not an alien off course. I said I dint intend to do this to you.” She said looking at his fore head which had a deep bruise, which she was sure was because of the log she threw. “I’m sorry.” Shifting her focus to his eyes, she asked “Err. Does that thing hurt?” she asked pointing a finger on the bruise.

“You’re asking if THIS thing hurts? Oh no! Not at all. It’s just bleeding a little. It’s a normal thing. You please don’t worry”, He said in a sarcastic tone. She was surprised he had the nerve to speak to her this way. He didn’t seem to care who she was and that was something that surprised her the most.

“Oh shit! I didn’t mean to get you angry. Let me help you.” She said and reached to him. She led him towards the river where he cleaned the wounds with the ultra-clear water. “Please sit down for a while. You’ll feel better.”

As he sat down, she saw the person who didn’t seem to care who she was, a little closer. He looks handsome she noted. He had a long brown hair that came up to his shoulder, and his shoulders were broad and strong. She wanted to be caged in those strong arms forever. . He was tall, a little tanned due to the sun and he did have a good sense of humour. Later, Her eyes fell on his open bare chest through his shirt and she was sure she missed a heartbeat.

“What the heck are you staring at?” he asked the moment he realized she was looking at him. “Well, I am staring at you and wondering how annoying attitude you possess.” She replied with a tone that told him that she was satisfied with how she reacted.

“Never mind, since we are both here why not have a friendly conversation and sort this mess? Hie, this is Michel.” He said in an even tone with a smile that tore her apart.

“Hie Michel, Sharon here.” She greeted him and was surprised yet again when he showed no reaction. “Didn’t he really not recognize me?” she wondered. “Err, look I don’t intend to ask you this way but I am just curious. Don’t you really know who I am?” she finally asked.

“Eh, as a matter of fact, I very well know who are and what a sensation you are to the country.” When he didn’t get any reaction from the other end, he continued “Well, I guess we should better get going now. My cottage is nearby, you can join me if you have no problem” He said looking at the bag which he decided was her luggage, trying not to sound so out of control.

“How far is your so-called cottage? My legs are aching already!” She screamed back tired following him. Giving up, she sat beside a huge pine tree. “I can walk no more, Michel. I am a human and I need to rest.!”

“Fine mam. Let’s rest for ten minutes in here” having said that he sat facing her back. Staring at the stars that already planted themselves in the evening sky “This woman is going to kill me” he muttered to himself. “Did you say something?” She asked when she felt she heard him talk.

“Yeah, I told we must better start off. I don’t want to get stuck up in here in the dark.”

They walked for an hour before they finally reached his cottage. The cottage wasn’t huge but was sufficient enough to keep a dozen of them protected. She just loved the interiors she realized. It had an open sky lightning that showed the million stars that shined above them. The wall on the other side of the fire place was a glass that portrayed the woods behind it like scenery. The house was warm and welcoming. The rooms inside the cottage were a bigger surprise. They were all well-furnished with antique pieces with a mix of latest fashion. She loved the cottage even more now. “Who designed this whole cottage?” she wondered.

“Here, have this. You’ll feel better”, having said that he gave her the cup of hot chocolate. She took a sip of it but still remained silent. “Is something wrong?” he asked seeing her this calm.

He moved closer to her, close enough to feel her breath on his chest. “I...I’m f-fine.” She replied with a shiver in her voice. He noticed how tired she is, but at the same time he even noticed that she was deeply thinking something. He slipped his arms around her and let her face rest on his chest, “you’re safe in here red, nothing to worry. No wolf is goanna come and eat you till I’m in here”, he spoke so casually with a twinkle in his eye that it made her laugh.

She backed off from him with a jerk and walked towards the window to perk into the night sky. “I think we should sleep now. It’s late already”

“You mean Together?” he offered with the same smug on his face that it created a million dragons in her. “Get out you brat. I need to sleep.” She responded back with a sweet smile painted on her face. He raised his eyebrow but dint move. He was staring at her. Then slowly turned around and dismissed him from her room.

“She certainly does have a nerve” he muttered to himself as he walked towards his room. “Oh my god. She is just irresistible!” he thought as he remembered the way she looked.

Next morning Sharon got up hearing a howl of some animal. It frightened her so much yet she wanted to know what on earth it was. She walked out of the room towards the staircase to notice Mike with some animal in the lawn and his hands covered in blood. Petrified she dashed towards the main entrance. “What the heck are you doing to it? Oh my god, he is bleeding. And who is that man beside you? What did you-”

“Just shut up! Go and get the bag which is on the couch. RUN!” he shot back at her. She was left with nothing but follow his orders. She did what he said her do. Doing so she helped him in saving that creature she realized. Sharon was still in shock and she sat on the couch and was still staring at the white towel in which the wolf was wound.

He came and sat beside her after cleaning himself. When she stared at him with fear in her eyes he covered his hand over hers. “Do you think his leg will be ever fine?”, she asked still looking at the animal in front of her. “Boozo will be perfectly fine. Although I think he might have a problem with that leg.” He assured her. “Hm. That is a little better and Boozo? What an absurd name!” she thought but what she dint realize was she that, she was loud enough for him to understand.

“Oh yes sweetheart. He deserves a name for himself. Don’t yah think so?” he asked eyeing at her.

Just as she was about to respond, she saw the same man come by. He came closer to her and crossed her as if she never existed. He wasn’t old enough she noticed, must be a friend of Mike’s she concluded with how cool he reacted at the cottage.

“Hey Sharon, meet Billy. He is a very close friend of mine. And Billy, this is Sharon. She is a paying guest, here in my cottage for a few days.”

Billy looked at her and smiled, but he pulled Mike a little more closer and whispered something in his ear which she couldn’t hear no matter how hard she tried. Later, he just walked away leaving them both alone again.

Noticing her suspicious looks, “He asked me to take care of Boozo. He is very fond of it you see” he managed to cover up.

“Never mind. And what are you? A doctor?” she asked him and then found herself stupid when she saw the huge ‘plus symbol’ carved on the rock just outside the cottage.

“Yeah but not exactly. I’m a vet by profession. I come in here during vacations. It’s too calm and I still get to practice my work once in a while.” He said as he smiled. Seeing him smile she felt the same feeling coming back to life. She felt her heart miss a beat, yet again!

Rest of the day was just as calm as she expected it to be except for a few occasions when he tried to irritate the hell out of her coming up with weird ideas about ‘Boozo’.

She couldn’t believe she had been living in the cottage for a fortnight now. It somehow felt home now. She was cooking dinner in the kitchen as Mike was busy studying the wolf. She felt it right to cook something so as to make her useful enough. She wasn’t good at cooking for she never cooked for herself back in L.A. But here, now, she felt it right to cook something. Once she was done with the chicken and salad, Sharon arranged the table and went for a nice shower.

Once she was fully satisfied with the way she looked, she knocked the door of the study room where Mike was still studying the wolf. “Sorry for interruption. I just came by to tell you that the dinner is ready.” She said and vanished from the thin air. Mike kept staring at the closed door for a long time even after she left. “She looks stunning” he whispered to himself in the lonely room. Unable to control himself any longer he freshened up to join her for the dinner.

The room was dark and only light was from the candles she had planted across the room. The table was decorated with wild Daisies he noted. Then his eyes feel on the bottle of wine and the two glasses which rested beside it. A complete candle light dinner he concluded. The very thought gave a million butterflies to him. As he walked closer he noticed her. She wore a purple off-shoulder gown, that showed off every curve in the body. She had tied her hair into a bun and let the rest strands just fall on her face. She wore a very little make up he noticed. She shone golden due to the candle light and it made her look even more beautiful. He couldn’t take his eyes off her. She sat beside the window and was staring at the stars that shone above. And the posture just made her look like an angel he thought to himself.

“Girl, you’re my angel” he muttered to himself as he strolled towards her. “Did you say something?” she asked when she couldn’t understand what he just spoke..

“Eh nothing. I just told that the table looks so-- beautiful. Let’s start the dinner then huh?” he finished the sentence and sat in his chair before he could lose control over his senses.

They sat and had the dinner very calmly with a very little discussion. He was compelled to look at her. And once he was done with the dinner, he walked away from her into his study. He couldn’t concentrate on what he was doing. She was still on his head. Not just head, but even heart. He sat down in his chair as he realised he was in love with Sharon.

He walked out of his study to rest very late, he had expected that she would have left by then. But he was wrong. She was still sitting by side the fire place as if waiting for him to return back to where he belonged. He strolled towards her in just three steps and stared at her eyes which were full of surprises. She seemed like an unsolved mystery to him. “Tell you what? Not just the table, even you look beautiful today” he admitted as she stood up to reach him. He placed his hands on her shoulder to bring her close to himself. He cupped her chin with one hand and brought her even closer to explore the magic she carried along. He opened her hair off the bun and dragged her closer to him by digging his hand into her red flaming hair. He drowned her with a deep kiss. When he wasn’t satisfied he kissed her again till he was convinced. “You look much beautiful with your hair open”, He whispered. He kissed her cheek, her fore head, her hair, he kissed the tip of her nose, kissed her down the throat and reached her neck where he showered a million kisses there. He moved his hands down her arm soothing them. He moved her slightly away from himself so he could see her better. She was shining golden due to the flames and it made her look adorable.

I just love you so much” he whispered as he held her even close to himself.

She clunk herself onto her knight, “I love you too, Mickey” she whispered and pulled him into a passionate kiss. She began to speak and he kissed her again. He reached the hem of her gown, zapped the zip open and pooled it on the ground beneath her. He scooped her in his arms, and put her on the couch beside. “Let me look at you, red, I’ve waited for this moment since a week now.” He said drowning himself into the cool grey eyes.

"I want to touch you, Mickey, please” she began to plead him as she peeled his shirt off his body. She rested herself on his chest and held it there till she absorbed his smell and let it linger. She had been waiting to rest on him, feel his presence, his smell since the day she saw him the first time. She lifted herself to reach him, kissed his jaw along his throat, she nipped his ear as she dug her hands deep into his hair. “I wish make you the luckiest man alive” she whispered when he jerked her back and rolled onto her. “You’re already making me one, red.” She said as he nudged her. He framed her face with his hands and crushed his lips into hers into a passionate kiss.

She leaned back from to face him. She stared directly into his eyes “I want you to make love to me” she spoke in a voice which was no less than a whisper.

“Are you sure, red? There is no going back.” He warned.

“I’m never sure about anything more than this. I’ve wanted you more than I ever wanted anyone in my life. Mickey, please.” She pleaded hoping he would listen to her. He hugged her close and buried himself in her hair. He touched and teased each and every inch of her. Passionately, he made love to her to quench the thirst they both carried along all this while.

Tired she rested herself in his arms. She looked at him with full of hope and satisfaction in her eyes. “There is something I need to confirm. Can I ask you, Sharon?” he said finally breaking the silence. He held her tight, his eyes suddenly went cold. “Why didn’t you tell me you were a virgin? I could have hurt you, red. When I realised I was shocked. Why dint you tell me?” he demanded. “Please don’t be angry, Mickey. I cannot take it. I never told you because I knew you would never touch me then. But tell you what, mickey? This is what I needed more than anything. I wanted it to be you, just you.” She said with a tear in her eye.

“I’m sorry if I get this wrong, but how is that your relation with Jimmy has never involved sex in it?”

“Yes. I was in a relation with Jimmy. But I am clever enough to choose what I want. You must understand the world we film stars live in, Mickey. Everything is for the sake of publicity, and so was my relation with Jimmy. Somewhere I knew we were not made for each other and so I never took the relation on a secondary basis.” She confessed

Shocked, and surprised with how he has to react, he dragged her and pulled her into a deep hug. “I just dint want to hurt you, red. Please don’t cry.” He pleaded her and buried himself in her hair. She hugged him and fell asleep on his shoulder. He wasn’t sleepy for He was thinking something very deeply. His focus fell on her again, and noticed the way she felt secure in his arms. He stroked her hair, kissed her hair comforting both of them. Getting up to see her beside him was what he wanted more than anything else in his life he realised. “You’re my angel, red, and now I’ll make you mine, I promise you” he whispered into her ear. He slowly lifted her making sure he doesn’t wake her up and placed her carefully on the pillow. He stared outside the window and suddenly everything became clear to him. He understood what he has to do, he dashed towards the bed, kissed her on her forehead and vanished from there.

She opened her eyes and let the morning sun absorb her. She felt awesome after ages she realised. “Mickey, trust me I haven’t slept this peacefully in weeks. And it’s all because of--”, she stopped mid-way when she dint find him around. He must be downstairs she concluded and began to go in that direction. When she reached downstairs, she realised he wasn’t anywhere. Confused, she gave him a call but a shiver ran down her spine when he rejected the call. “Why is he rejecting my calls?” she asked to herself. A closer look around the cottage and she noticed a document lying on the table. She went and looked at it. Shocked, she felt her world shatter around her. He was planning to transfer the cottage and its responsibility to someone else. Even the wolf wasn’t in his study anymore. He was planning to leave this place she thought to herself. Then she remembered his reaction when he realized that she was a virgin. “He never liked me. And now he fled so that he doesn’t have to face Me.”

“Oh my god! What have I done? Gave my heart away to someone who doesn’t even want it?”. She cursed herself and cried her hearts out. He was someone so dear to her before six hours. But now, her world turned upside down. Tears of shame and embarrassment swept her face. Fact that he just walked on her, made her feel even worse. She sat on the couch, crumbled into a ball. She was deeply thinking about what she would do with her life. She had left her life back at L.A to lead a new one. She wanted to give her life a second chance. She had a successful career as an upcoming actress. Then why did she leave it all to come and here? She remained calm for the rest of the day. She did not have the energy left to cook lunch nor was she hungry enough to prepare dinner for herself. Weeping, she finally fell asleep and escaped into a world of un-easiness…

It was the third night she had spent in the cottage, and mike had still not returned. She got up finally because of the bright sun light that directly fell on her eyes getting her back to reality. She packed her stuffs, wrote a small letter, and put it on the table beside. She began to walk towards the same river from where this all began.

As Mike entered the cottage, it was awfully silent and that scared him the most. He reached the table and picked up the letter she had addressed on his name…

“Mickey,

I never wanted things to end up this way between us. Somewhere I trusted that we were meant to be there for each other. I fought with my life once when Jimmy left me, struggled harder to get back to the position where I stand now. I guess trusting people blindly is one of my weak traits. But now, things are different. What I feel for you now is beyond you can ever imagine. I never can imagine I would fall this deeply in love with anybody else. I am not blaming you Mike, because relations are never one-sided. And yeah I noticed that you’re transferring this cottage to somebody. If that’s because of me, please don’t do that. I’ll leave you to your happiness.

Good bye mickey.

P.S: I’ll miss you.”

Hot tears strolled through his helpless eyes and wet his cheek. “Even I love you, red. I really do.” he said as he sobbed into the letter. “I need to find her. She just can’t leave me this way and go” he decided. “But where?” Events in the past week haunted him. He was so happy three days back. Now he wanted all those back. He wanted her. And then he felt he knew where exactly she might go but hoped she would still be there.

He dashed through the cottage door, along the bushes and trees. He tumbled but dint care about what the pain it caused. His mental pain was dominating his physical pain. He had to meet her, tell her what she means to him and get her back into his life. She had changed his life and brought a new meaning to it. She made his life look more colourful and now he couldn’t stand to see those colours fade away. He covered the woods in an hour to reach the spot where he found her for the first time. He saw her again. She was still there. She was sitting beside the river, tears rolling down her cheek. Seeing her sad and helpless ripped his heart. He cursed himself for having hurt her.

“Hey!” he shouted so that she notices his presence. “What the heck are you thinking you’re doing?” he demanded and held her tight, digging his nails into her shoulder not caring that he was hurting her. “You run away another time, and I will make sure that you’ll see how worst I can be!”

Anger, pain, and betrayal swept her through varied emotions. “Who the hell are you to tell me what I am supposed to do with my life? Just leave me alone.” She shouted unable to control the anger she had in her. “You come along when you wish, go away when you feel you don’t need me. I am a goddamn human with feelings! Anyways. I am done. I am leaving. Enjoy your life.” Having said that, she tried to walk away.

He had already ruined it all for himself he realized. He dint understand what he has to do so she would stop and listen to what he has to say. “Fine, you can go if you want to. But before that, please listen to what I am saying. Here, take this.” Having said that, as he handed her a document.

“What is this?” she demanded before she even opened it.

“This is the transfer document of the cottage. Like you predicted, I was planning on transferring it. But it is only half the story. I need your signatures in it and it will be done.” He said with an assured smile.

“Excuse me? Why do you need my signatures in them?” she asked horrible confused now.

“These are the transfer papers for transferring the ‘Dreamscape cottage’ from “Mr.Ronnald Stevenson” to “Mr.Michel Stevenson and his wife Mrs.Sharon Stevenson. It is a wedding present from Mr.Stevenson to his wife” he replied with a twinkle in his eyes.

“What the hell are you--” she squeaked in painful surprise when Michel lured forward and wrapped her tight in his arms.

“I love you, red.” He said kissing her forehead and held her tight to himself. “When I got up in the morning that day, first thing I wanted was to see you as my wife. I wanted every morning in my life to be as beautiful as that day, and it will only be if you’re mine.”

“But… But…BUT YOU NEVER RETURNED!” she burst out as hot tears found their way down her eyes.

Her eyes were swollen as she did nothing past few days than cry. She wanted to die rather that live a life without him. As he looked at her close, he realised how pale she had turned. “I never expected this twist in the tale, red. Trust me. I had to tell my dad about you and I had to get the signatures from him and usually it’s just an hour from here. But there was an un-expected landslide and so I couldn’t come here. I would never want to leave you alone this way, and when I noticed you were not there when I came by today, it tore me apart.” He said as he held out his palm and rested it on her cheek.

“Michel” she began to speak but was again interrupted when he pulled her into a heart smelting kiss.

“I wanna get married to you, red. Tell me you’ll marry me. I wish to make you the happiest woman on earth. I wish to make babies with you. I wanna grow old with you, sweetheart.” He said playing with her hair.

“Oh my god Michel! Babies!” She said thrilled by the thought of it. Suddenly she found her life arranging itself back in the place. This is what she had ever craved for. A person who loves her more than anything else, a life she would lead with him and the children they would make together. To love, and be loved in return was all she ever wanted. And now, she could see it all zap back to reality...

“Yeah honey, babies. You want it right?” he asked her, nudging her neck with his nose, as if he knew what she would answer

“Hm... I want all of it. Mike? I wanna go home. Please take me home.” She said hugging him tight to herself.

“Home? You mean you wanna get back to L.A?” he asked a little confused.

“Uh-huh. ‘My home’ is where you live. Take me to the cottage, dear” She replied as he scooped her in his arms and rained kisses all over her face.

“So is that a ‘yes’, red?” he asked her, teasing her slightly.

“Hm... let me think” She replied as she linked her fingers around his neck. “It off course is a YES” she said touching his lips with hers.

“Remember when Billy came by to our place, he whispered something in my ear? He told me that, ‘Love of your life is standing right in front of you. So don’t ever lose her’. I merely lost you today, but I guess I got lucky” he told her as he carried her all the way back home.
